CHAPTER 4 Corsica Everlasting [in creation]Inspired by: Corsica FRANCE
I have just returned from summer on the Ile de Beauté, Corse where the minute yellow flower clusters of the immortelle are abundant. The oil is a deep and dense warm accord reminiscent of beeswax, slightly floral cherry jasmine with amazing properties of anti-ageing. The island itself being 'corse' with the maquis has a masculine energy with rocky slate cliffs and the juxtaposition of French and Italian culture. I am thinking this composition might be a cologne homme; but when I start to create the composition takes on a life direction of its own and so we shall see! Visually the island for me is a 'monochromatic marina' where the concentration and focal point is on the degrees of light at specific times of the day on the boats, which of course shall translate into selecting volatile raw materials (top notes) that capture the essence of the sea, with the heart of the composition being dense and hot like the centre of the island. I could go on about how I feel and the experiences that I am trying to communicate, but I also like to leave space for the raw materials to tell me what works together.
The background research I shall do, since I would like to perhaps use salt: is it possible to yield an odorous raw material from salt? What will happen if I just put salt in the composition? Or maybe sea water? What other raw materials have a salt-like note? Sea water has deuterium in it, a compound used in the theory of cold fusion... research cold fusion..[inquire with physicist at CERN]... and this all in search of the ultimate top accord for the commencement of the composition from my voyage.
