BESPOKE
Perfumers who are willing to spend hours in their laboratory making tests for a perfume which will always remain private are few and far between. It is both a personal and financial investment which cannot be measured practically. The bespoke perfume stimulates my creative capacities, especially when the client proposes an original idea which I am interested in developing.
Custom made scents and scent wardrobes are a journey through consultation with me directly.
THE BESPOKE COMPOSITION
PART ONE
The journey starts with a map of the world. Together we plot the history of the client's lineage. Next we consider their childhood, where it was spent in the world and fond memories. Continuing through the series of questions we arrive at the lifestyle the client presently leads. Considering personal style, history, memories and travel I start to map the odor profile. This process of the day together is very thorough and detailed and I take many notes. Technical questions are also considered like diet, skincare, medication and allergies.
PART TWO
I go away and research all of the information gathered. I plot their life on the map considering weather patterns, local flora and produce. I spend time hand picking certain raw materials to introduce to the client.
PART THREE
The scent journey. This is an opportunity to experience all the natural raw materials. The client will come in for a series of visits to discover the scent families, such as a day dedicated to floral notes or citrus and spice. Slowly and instinctively the idea will present itself to us both, an inspiration or seeded in provenance. I then take this idea and start composing.
